Pioneering Education

We are celebrating 40 years of Pioneers! William Finch was established in 1985 to support personalized learning and opportunities for families to partner with teachers to determine when and how their students engage in the California public school curriculum. William Finch prepares students to enroll in college, enlist in the armed forces or enter the workforce.

Personalized Learning

William Finch offers a variety of personalized learning options for K-12 students including hybrid learning, course-based independent study, enrichment, credit recovery, tutoring, online courses, accelerated learning, career pathways, and dual enrollment for college credit.

These flexible methods support students to explore what works for them and allows teachers and parents to partner when choosing how learning best occurs.

With this model, classes and in-person activities are optional, but learning is not!

Vision

Students will gain confidence, competence, and information needed to make choices for the future, and will have demonstrated strength and skill in areas needed for participation in the 21st century economy as well as the civic, cultural, and intellectual life of our nation and global society.

These areas include: technological literacy; communication skills; aesthetic sensibility; critical thinking, quantitative reasoning; social, environmental, and personal responsibility; multicultural and cross-cultural competency; and strength of character; as well as academic achievement.
